Supervisor’s statement way off base

I am writing in regards to Johnstown Town Supervisor Nancy MacVean’s statement in the Aug. 26 edition of The Leader-Herald about how inmates get too much food and we’re feeding them like they’re kings.

I get the feeling, Ms. MacVean, that you feel inmates shouldn’t eat as well as you or the general population. I can assure you that they get the basic nutrients we all need on a daily basis, but they are not eating lobster tails or prime rib.

As for the elderly people in Fulton County who are eating cat food so they can buy their medicines, they need to do some research. There are plenty of programs out there to help the elderly eat nutritiously so they can get their medications. Fulton County Office for the Aging can help them get set up for Meals on Wheels and a number of other things to help with nutrition.
