Florence Achzet, 76, of Mayfield, passed away on September 2, 2014, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam, surrounded by her loving family.
Florence was born on October 18, 1937, in the town of Mayfield, a daughter of the late Edward Gray and Dorothy Lawrence Gray.
She worked for several years as a furniture finisher at the former Mohawk Furniture in Broadalbin. Florence was of the Methodist faith and loved flowers, birds and travelling.
Mrs. Achzet is survived by her husband, Douglas Achzet, whom she married on August 5, 1961; one daughter, Lenise Towarnicki (Frank) of Crown Point, Indiana; one brother, Edward Gray (Carol) of Gloversville; four sisters, Mary Jane DeVoe (Ralph) of Mayfield, Rosie Gray of Mayfield, Dorothy Trumbull (David) of town of Johnstown and Vivian VanDerWerker (James) of Mayfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Paula Marlitt and Kathaleen Marlitt.
Visitation for friends and family will be on Friday, September 5. from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
