Canajoharie golfers post WAC victory
CANAJOHARIE – Powered by Sam Shostek’s medalist round of 38, the Canajoharie Cougars posted a 15-0 Western Athletic conference victory over host Fort Plain on Tuesday morning at the Canajoharie Country Club.
Shostek was joined in the scoring by Mike Balfe with a 44, Austin Countryman (46) and Baighly Sanders (53) for a 181 total. Trever Bowerman chipped in with a 54 and Travis Colegrove finished with 59.
Austin Cotton paced the Hilltoppers with his round of 56, followed by McKay Nare (57), Dan Kilmartin (64) and Kenny Travis (66) for a 243 total. Jacob Hazlett and Zackary Rogers both finished with rounds of 76 for Fort Plain.
Saratoga Catholic 9.5, Northville/Mayfield 5.5
NORTHVILLE – Jordyn Fordyce shot a 3-over 39 for Northville/Mayfield to lead all golfers in Tuesday’s WAC match at Sacandaga Golf Course.
Frank Coulter shot a 40 for Northville/Mayfield, while Gavin Winn carded a 43.
Dylan Seeber shot a 42 for Spa Catholic, while Drew Welcome had a 40 and Kayla Szekely carded a 43.
Broadalbin-Perth 166, Hudson Falls 224
HUDSON FALLS – Brett Getman paced the Patriots with his round of 38 as Broadalbin-Perth recorded its first league win of the season.
Alex Bond carded a 40 for the 1-1 Patriots, while Noah Scott shot 41 and Nick Scavia shot 47.
Ayden Murphy led Hudson Falls (0-2) with a 53. Kerri Pfeiffer shot 55, while Derrick Crandall shot 57 and Tom Kiernan 59.
Glens Falls 184, Gloversville 198
GLOVERSVILLE – Glens Falls’ Justin Nolan and Gloversville’s Kyle Johnston tied with low rounds of 44 in Monday’s Foothills Council match at Kingsboro Golf Club.
Alex Wright carded a round of 46 for the Indians, while Eric Goldstein and Andrew Bulmer both shot 47 for the winning 184 total.
Kyle Fonda carded a 45 for Gloversville, while Dylan Sweeney shot 54 and Justin Putnam 55 for the Huskies’ 198 team total.
Also turning in scores for Gloversville was Kyle Persch (67), while Rece McClemts shot 55 and Henry Vandermin 56 for Glens Falls.
South Glens Falls 189
SOUTH GLENS FALLS -Johnstown’s David Malagisi and South Glens Falls’ A.J. Harper tied for the low round of the match with 43 as the Sir Bills picked up the league win.
Ben Wager carded a 45 for Johnstown, followed by Chris Geleta with a 47 and Ethan Wager at 49.
Ryan Mahard shot 46 for the bulldogs, while Ryan Benosky shot 49 and Trevor Tellisky shot a 51.
