Man faces abuse counts
FONDA – A St. Johnsville man has been indicted in Montgomery County Court on more than 40 counts, including several sexual-abuse charges.
According to information from the indictment, Robert Madsen, 48, of 1489 of Kringsbrush Road, was indicted July 31 on the following charges:
- Two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child.
Two counts of first-degree criminal sexual act.
Eleven counts of second-degree criminal sexual act.
Fifteen counts of third-degree criminal sexual act.
Two counts of second-degree sexual abuse.
Five counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Four counts of third-degree sexual abuse.
Montgomery County District Attorney Jed Conboy said he could not comment or release any additional information about the case.
In February, Madson was accused by state police of performing oral sex on a 14-year-old.
He was charged Feb. 25 on two counts of second-degree criminal sex act, one count of third-degree sexual abuse and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, state police reported.
According to state police Investigator Wayne Matice, troopers learned about the oral sex after a friend of the victim reported what was going on. Troopers followed up on the accusations and charged Madsen, Matice said earlier this year.
In February, Madsen was arraigned in Town Court and sent to the Montgomery County Jail. At that time, Matice said more victims could be involved and the investigation was ongoing.
