Brothers charged after dispute: police

PALATINE – State police said a pair of brothers were arrested recently after an incident led to one firing a shotgun over the other’s head.

Shane C. Hisert, 34, was charged with third-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing.

Brian M. Hisert, 32, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief for damage to a door, police said.

It is alleged there was an argument involving the brothers at a town residence, police said. Shane Hisert was involved in an argument with another brother, causing physical injury to him, police said. Shane Hisert went back to his own house a short distance away and was confronted by his other brothers.

One of those brothers, Brian Hisert, tossed a metal wheel through the window in the backdoor to Shane’s house, police said. Shane responded by discharging a shotgun over his brother’s head, police said.

No injuries were sustained from the shotgun blast or from the throwing of the metal wheel, police said. The weapon was secured and both brothers were taken into custody without incident.

Shane Hisert was arraigned in Town Court and sent to Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court Sept. 4.

Brian Hisert was processed and released. He is to return to court Aug. 28.
