Aileen “Patty” Sullivan
Aileen “Patty” Sullivan passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014, surrounded by her children. Born 1929 to James E. and Anne Kehoe Smith, she was raised on State Street and attended Saint Columbus High School in Schenectady. Patty graduated New Rochelle College and married Doctor Robert L. Sullivan in 1951. They raised five children and she taught them how to golf, ski, sing, laugh, and behave at the seven-sided dinner table.
Patty had a love for life, including summers spent at the Great Sacandaga Lake where she spent her childhood. She was a longtime member of the Mohawk Golf Club, played competitive bridge regularly, loved curling, and traveled worldwide to visit her children. Patty especially enjoyed sports, whether watching with a drink or playing on the links. She finally had a hole-in-one after decades of golf and quaffed some stranger’s “Smitticks” beer to celebrate!
Patty was predeceased by her husband, Sully; sisters, Anne Marie Ruddy, Sandra Quinn; and brother, Jimmy Smith. She is survived by her sisters, Maureen Smith and Vyvian d’Estienne; as well as her children, Kerry and Kate of Park City, Utah, Sean of Mayfield, Kevin and Paola of St. Augustine, Florida, Trish and Rick Breiling of Sandy, Utah, and Bob and Sue of Draper, Utah. Patty had ten grandchildren and oodles of cousins.
