Jeanne E. Johnson

Jeanne E. Johnson, age 75, of Johnstown, passed away at home on Friday, August 15, 2014, after a brief illness.

Born July 18, 1939, in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth McDevitt Miller.

Jeanne was a graduate of the Central Regional High School in Toms River, New Jersey and also Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City.

She was employed with the United Nations in New York City and the National Industrial Conference Board in New York City. She was then employed as a secretary to the superintendent of the Johnstown School District until her retirement.

Mrs. Johnson was an active member of the Wells House Auxiliary and she enjoyed volunteering at Mohawk Harvest Coop. She also transcribed books into braille for the Mohawk Valley Braille Transcribers.

Jeanne enjoyed family, reading and will be remembered as caring and generous.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Robert A. Johnson, whom she married on May 23, 1964; three children, Christopher Johnson of Amsterdam, Pamela (Michael) Kinowski of Johnstown and Rebecca (Ryan) Tyler of Charleston, South Carolina; two brothers, John (Meg) Miller of Huntsville Alabama, David Miller of Seaside Park, New Jersey; a sister Susan (David) Leeper of Scottsdale Arizona; one grandchild Hunter Tyler of Charleston, South Carolina; a uncle John McDevitt of Beachwood, New Jersey several cousins three of which she was very close Charles Miller of Seaside Park, New Jersey, Mary Kay McGill of Beachwood, New Jersey and Peggy Cosgrove of Gainesville, Virginia; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for friends and family will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
