City may consider grant application

JOHNSTOWN – The Common Council will consider whether to apply for a $100,000 state grant for its police tactical team at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.

On the agenda is a proposed resolution for the city Police Department to apply to the state Division for Homeland Security and Emergency Services’ Office of Counter Terrorism for funding under the Tactical Team Targeted Grant Program.

Law enforcement agencies are eligible to request up to $100,000 in grant funds to safeguard local tactical teams that respond to high-risk incidents, including active shooter events and other counterterrorism missions.

In other business, the council is slated to consider a new five-year City Court security agreement with the state.

The council will also consider advertising for bids for city street resurfacing until Sept. 11.
