Paula Jane Weaver
Paula Jane Weaver, 64, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving husband, daughter, and sister at the time of her passing. She was the daughter of the late Victoria (Grochowski) Rusinski and Francis Rusinski. She was born October 10, 1949, in Buffalo, NY, and graduated from Lackawanna High School in 1967. On November 21, 1998 she was married to Gloversville native William J. Weaver at a ceremony in Queensbury, NY.
Throughout her working career, Paula held various positions in the retail industry as well as in the fields of business administration and management. While many of her positions were enjoyable, Paula proclaimed that her time spent working at the Hyde Collection in Glen Falls, NY, from 2001 until 2005, was her most rewarding. There she not only enjoyed her work, but she felt close to the people she was working with. In 2005, in response to the growing needs of the family construction and development business she made the difficult decision to leave the Hyde Collection. (A decision she felt was necessary, but regretted until her passing.) In 2005, along with her husband Bill she purchased commercial property in Kingsbury, NY where they constructed a self storage facility. In 2009 Paula sold the storage business and retired to Ormond Beach, FL. Paula was a voracious reader of both fiction and non-fiction. A self described “news junkie”, she enjoyed conversation and would debate anyone on any topic. She particularly enjoyed discussing politics, theology, and current events around the globe. She had a knack for fashion and style. Friends and neighbors would often seek her advice when shopping for clothing or decorating their homes. An accomplished cook and baker, she often succumbed to her husband’s requests for beef wellington or eggplant parmesan. Despite her abundant skills in the kitchen her favorite meal was hamburgers on the barbecue with corn on the cob. As a wife Paula was devoted, loyal, and a pillar of great strength; the type of person that could always be counted upon. She was a partner who supported her husband Bill in all of his endeavors, no matter how grandiose. She supported and bolstered him as only the best partners in life know how to do.
Survivors include her husband Bill; one son, Robert Cherney of Heidelberg, Germany; one daughter, Kathryn Weaver of Vernon, Connecticut; one sister, Carole Reddish of Ormond Beach, FL; her two dogs, Raisin and Sydney; and her cat Fausto, (who she named after an Italian hair stylist who liked to sing operatic arias to her while working.) In accordance with Paula’s request there will be no memorial service or viewing. Paula’s only wish was that you take this opportunity to perform an act of kindness or do something positive for another with the idea or hope that they might “pay it forward.” If more preferable, a donation in her memory may be made to a local animal shelter or one’s choice. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com.
