Man hit, choked woman: troopers

BROADALBIN – A town man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly hit and choked his ex-girlfriend, according to state police in Mayfield.

Troopers said in a news release Cameron Hoyt, 39, was arrested Wednesday for first-degree burglary, third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing.

Police said Hoyt forcibly entered the woman’s residence and struck her and choked her several times. The victim told police she was able to get away from Hoyt and locked herself in the bathroom before contacting 911. A deputy from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office located Hoyt down the road from the residence and turned him over to the troopers, who were on the scene.

Hoyt was arraigned in Town Court and remanded to the Fulton County Jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
