Community Choir slates performances

MAYFIELD – The Mayfield Community Choir will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mayfield Presbyterian Church, 22 N. Main St., as part of the group’s 15th season.

Under the direction of Luke Horst, the program will include a wide variety of music, a news release said. Mary Lou Bryan will accompany the group on the piano. The choir includes about 45 singers from Mayfield and several surrounding communities.

A second performance is planned for Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Ballston Center Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, corner of Middleline and Charlton Roads, Ballston Spa. The concerts are free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be received.

Caroga Chapel

to present concert

CAROGA – The Caroga Chapel will host the second free bluegrass concert of the 2014 summer season today from 7 to 8 p.m.

The Durey Creek Bluegrass Band will perform a variety of bluegrass and gospel songs. This program features a different selection of their repertoire from the July program, a news release said. Admission is free.

A free-will offering will be accepted to support the programs of the Caroga Lake area churches.

Civic Band slates final concert

GLOVERSVILLE – The Gloversville Civic Band will present its fifth and final concert of the summer at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Melchoir Park.

Under the direction of Tom Gerbino, the band consists of musicians from Fulton and Montgomery counties, as well as the Saratoga, Schenectady and Albany areas, a news release said.

The rain site will be the Glove Performing Arts Center.

The program will include “Latin Gold,” “The King and I” medley and “The Italian Master Suite,” the release said.

School board slates meeting Thursday

JOHNSTOWN – The Greater Johnstown School District Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Johnstown High School Performing Arts Center.

The public is welcome to attend.

Alzheimer’s

caregivers to meet

JOHNSTOWN – Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home announces the “Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group” will meet Thursday at 4 p.m. at HealthLink Littauer, 213 Harrison St. Ext.

This monthly support group is for family members who care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia.

The meeting is free and no enrollment is necessary.

American Legion post to meet

JOHNSTOWN – The monthly meeting of the Johnstown American Legion Post 472 will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Parish Center, 207 Glebe St. All members are requested to attend, a news release said.
