Mohawks still waiting on opponent
AMSTERDAM – The opening game of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League championship series that was scheduled for tonight at Shuttleworth Park has been postponed.
The best-of-three series between the two-time defending champion Amsterdam Mohawks and either the Newark Pilots or Elmira Pioneers will now open Wednesday in Amsterdam.
The Mohawks claimed the East Division, sweeping the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs on Friday and Saturday.
The opening game of the West Division championship in Newark was rained out on Friday with the Pioneers winning the game on Saturday.
Sunday’s game 2 of the series was rained out in Elmira and was played Monday night with the Pilots picking up a 2-1 victory to tie the series at one apiece.
The deciding game of the series will be played tonight in Newark with the victor advancing to face the Mohawks on Wednesday night.
The first pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
The second game is scheduled to be played Thursday at Newark or Elmira, while the third game, if necessary, will be played at Amsterdam on Friday.
