Artwork celebrates Quilt Barn Trail

GLOVERSVILLE – Micropolis Cooperative Art Gallery, located within the Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market on Main Street, will hold a Meet the Artists reception Friday for an exhibit of artwork celebrating the Fulton-Montgomery Quilt Barn Trail.

The tourism trail visually connects the outdoor landscape with quilt barn squares throughout Fulton and Montgomery counties.

Two of the actual barn quilt squares are included in this gallery exhibit, a news release said.

In support of the trail, Micropolis artists have designed and produced “quilt squares” using traditional and non-traditional methods and materials, including wood, fiber, paint and prints.

Quilt Barn Trail project organizer Liz Argotsinger will be available to answer questions and explain how people can get involved or join the trail.

Also on display in the gallery will be original artwork by Micropolis artists, including original paintings, drawings, photographs, fiber collages, mixed media, woodwork, glass, digital art, sculpture, jewelry, batik and pottery.

The reception will be held in the gallery between 5 and 7 p.m. at 30 N. Main St.

The event also marks the third anniversary of Micropolis Cooperative, founded by a group of local artists.
