U.S. chamber recognizes Owens
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recognized U.S. Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, with a Spirit of Enterprise award for his leadership on economic and business issues during the 113th Congress.
“My focus as a representative has always been economic growth and job creation, which depends first on the health and success of the private sector,” Owens said in a news release. “I am grateful to the U.S. Chamber for this award.”
“2013 was challenging, but Congressman Owens worked to pass legislation and enact policies that will keep our country moving forward economically,” U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue said in the news release. “The Spirit of Enterprise Award recognizes legislators like Congressman Owens who have demonstrated their commitment to supporting pro-growth policies in the 113th Congress.”
The U.S. Chamber gives the Spirit of Enterprise Award annually to members of Congress who take pro-business positions on critical business issues including reforming the immigration system, easing approval of the Keystone XL pipeline and in other areas such as trade, transportation, legal reform and the budget.
