Man charged after crash: police
FLORIDA – State police said an Amsterdam man was arrested after he crashed his vehicle into a ditch while under the influence of a controlled substance.
Daniel M. Oldorff, 40, was charged Friday with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Police said a passerby saw an unoccupied Pontiac Bonneville in a ditch along Route 30. When a Montgomery County sheriff’s deputy arrived, no one was found inside or around the vehicle. Police said troopers determined the car belonged to Oldorff.
Police said around the same time, troopers received calls about a white male dressed in a tank top and blue jeans walking around a parking lot near the scene. The man reportedly was staggering about and appeared intoxicated, police said.
Police said when a trooper and deputy responded to Oldorff’s home, they found him lying in the backyard. Oldorff said he was driving the car and planned on going back to get it later, police said.
Oldorff also admitted he takes oxycodone and handed the deputy a blue pill, police said. It was determined Oldorff’s mother picked him up from the accident scene and brought him home.
Oldorff was arraigned in Mohawk Town Court and sent to the Montgomery County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
