Moped driver hurt in accident
JOHNSTOWN – A Montgomery County moped driver suffered head injuries and was transported to the Albany Medical Center Hospital after being in an accident Friday on North Comrie Avenue.
City police said Jose A. Samuels, 46, of 1344 County Highway 107, Lot 9, Fort Johnson, was in shock after the 3 p.m. accident.
Police said Samuels’ moped and a car driven by Irving T. Livingston, 89, of 1836 Route 29A, Gloversville, were both traveling north on North Comrie Avenue, south of Bloomingdale Avenue. Police said Samuels was operating the moped on the shoulder, and Livingston was pulling his car over to make a right turn into a parking lot as the moped was coming up from behind.
Police said the moped collided with the car, causing Samuels to be ejected. Police said Samuels’ helmet came off during impact with the car and curbing of the road.
No tickets were issued.
