Mohawks stop Dutchmen, 4-2
AMSTERDAM – The Amsterdam Mohawks defeated the Albany Dutchmen 4-2 Friday night at Shuttleworth Park.
Tommy Kain (Lynn) led the way for the Mohawks with a 2-run homerun, his fifth of the season.
Kain and E.J. Ashworth (Fairfield) helped the Mohawks win their 31st game of the season. Kain went 1-for-4 with a homerun, which gave the Mohawks the lead in the second inning. Ashworth struck out two over six innings, and only allowed one run on five hits.
Jake Welch (Notre Dame College) pitched well for the Dutchmen, striking out five over seven innings, and allowed three earned runs on five hits. Adam Lee (Lipscomb) went 2-for-5, and provided most of the offense for Albany.
