Friesen wins seventh feature at Fonda

FONDA – Stewart Friesen took a big bite out of Bobby Varin’s points lead in the modified division with his seventh win of the season Saturday night at Fonda Speedway.

Friesen passed race-leader Elmo Reckner late in the closing laps of the 30-lap feature and pulled away to win by a three-second margin. The win moves Friesen to within two-points of Varin with four weeks and five races remaining in the points chase.

Reckner finished second, followed by Alton Palmer, Jeremy Wilder and Varin.

Jeff Trombley, A.J. Romano, Bodie Bellinger, Justin Boehler and Josh Hohenforst completed the top 10.

Tony Farone picked up his first win of the season in the 602 sportsman main event over Cody Clark, Rocky Warner, Kurtis Hohensheldt and Ricky Quick.

Pete Broderson picked up his third win of the season in the 20-lap pro stock main event, while Chuck Dumblewski, Nick Stone, Kenny Gates and Jason Casey.

John Young hit the line first in the street stock main event but was disqualified in post-race tech, giving Dave Horning Sr. his fifth win of the season. John Bradt moved up to second with Jason Samrov third and Cliff Haslun fourth.

Frank Blanchard picked up the win in the Vintage Modified class.
