Task Force hosts special speaker
NORTHVILLE – The Sacandaga Task Force for Senior Living has a program each week at the Red Rooster Cafe (Pink Chicken), corner of Bridge and Main streets.
On Thursday at 12:30 p.m. the Red Rooster Cafe will host Karen Sagen, a registered nurse and HealthLink community health educator, who will present a program, “Preventing Skin Cancer.”
Chair yoga, taught by Ony Antonucci, will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and senior aerobics is at 9:30 a.m. each Thursday. The cost of classes is $5 per week or six sessions for $25. Those interested can join at any time; call 863-2168.
The blood pressure clinics are the fourth Thursday each month by Home Health Care Partners.
The weekly congregate meal is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Participants can attend the Red Rooster programs without attending the meal or bring a bag lunch.
People who want the Office for the Aging meal should call OFA at 736-5650 to make lunch reservations; if unable to attend the luncheon, call OFA to cancel the meal. If the OFA meal site is closed, there will be no program at the Red Rooster Cafe that day.
The following are the upcoming bus trips:
– Aug. 6, to Cooperstown, Otsego County, to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame (the cost will be $12) or the Farmers Museum (the cost will be $10.50). After lunch, participants will to Fly Creek, Otsego County.
– Aug. 25, to Proctors to see “Film 100: The American Film Institute Essentials” presents Vertigo starring James Stewart and Kim Novak at 2:30 p.m. The cost will be $5. Lunch will be before the show.
– Sept. 12, Railroads on Parade in Pottersville, Warren County, to see the model trains and exhibits. The cost will be $10.50. Then the group will go to Lake George for lunch and to visit the shops. Northville will be the only bus pickup location.
– Sept. 24, Erie Canal cruise (the cost will be $19) and shopping at Gems Along the Mohawk, Herkimer, and a stop at the Canal Place shops in Little Falls, Herkimer County.
Other than the Sept. 12 trip, the bus stops in Northville, Mayfield and Vail Mills. If interested in a trip, call 752-8737, leave name and phone number and trip of interest. Someone will return the call.
