JHS field hockey will have new coach

JOHNSTOWN – The Johnstown varsity field hockey team will have a new coach after Tracy Ringer was not appointed Thursday at a Greater Johnstown School District Board of Education meeting at Johnstown High School.

Board President Paul VanDenburgh, Superintendent Rob DeLilli and athletic director James Robare all had no comment on the decision.

Ringer went 59-13 in four seasons as Johnstown coach, winning the Section II Class B title in 2011 and reaching the Class B title game in 2009 and 2012. Last season, the Lady Bills went 12-6 overall, losing to eventual Class B champion Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake in the Class B semifinals.

Matt Benton (football), Mark Ralbovsky (golf), Mike Hill (boys soccer), Colleen Froschauer (girls soccer) and Heather McGuire (volleyball) will all return as coaches this fall.

The girls tennis team will be coached by Nicole Clark.
