Case adjourned in City Court
GLOVERSVILLE – A court hearing for City Court Judge Traci DiMezza’s husband, who is accused of hitting her, was adjourned last week until Aug. 7.
Joseph A. DiMezza was charged with third-degree attempted assault, a misdemeanor, and third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, after he allegedly struck his wife during an incident in June.
Police Chief Donald VanDeusen said DiMezza allegedly struck the victim under the chin and left marks on her neck while trying to take a cellphone away from her.
According to Judge James Doern from Saratoga County, there will be a phone conference he’ll initiate from his chambers. A court appearance date will be set up after that.
There was a change to the order of protection for Judge DiMezza to allow her husband to communicate with her in order to arrange custody visits for their children.
If DiMezza violates the order, he could be held without bail and charged with criminal mischief, said Doern.
Defense attorney Steven Kouray had no comment.
