Saratoga to open Friday

SARATOGA SPRINGS – The Saratoga Race Course opened its gates Sunday for the 34th annual open house.

The event featured the running of the Newman E. Wait Jr. Trials at the Oklahoma Track.

The 40-day meet will open Friday and run through Labor Day, Sept. 1.

Post time is scheduled for 1 p.m. for Friday’s race card, which includes the running of the 6-furlong, Grade III Schuylerville for 2-year-old fillies.

A pair of Grade I stakes are slated for opening weekend with the TVG Diana slated for Saturday and the Coaching Club American Oaks scheduled on Sunday’s program.

Sunday’s fans will receive a Saratoga Baseball Cap with a paid admission.
