Mohawks slip past Golden Eagles, 5-4
GLENS FALLS – The Amsterdam Mohawks rallied from a 3-0 deficit to post a 5-4 win over Glens Falls in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest at East Field on Saturday.
Glens Falls led 3-0 after two innings, scoring all three runs in the bottom of the second.
Colton Montgomery had a two-run single for the Golden Eagles, while John Lynn had an RBI double.
The Mohawks responded with two runs in the top of the third, getting an RBI single from John Razzino. Joe Purritano was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing home Amsterdam’s second run.
Marcus Carson tied the game for the Mohawks in the fourth with an RBI sacrifice fly.
Thomas Kain had a solo home run in the sixth to give Amsterdam a 4-3 lead.
The Golden Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, scoring their final run of the game.
Amsterdam plated the game-winning run in the eighth, when Kain scored on an error after tripling to centerfield.
Six Amsterdam pitchers combined to allow just five hits by Glens Falls.
Carson finished 3-for-3 for the Mohawks, while Razzino and Kain each had three hits.
Amsterdam (23-8 overall) is scheduled to host Mohawk Valley today at 6:35 p.m. at Shuttleworth Park.
Glens Falls (12-18 overall) is scheduled to travel to Adirondack today for a 6:05 p.m. contest.
