Southworth to run for state Senate

Former Ballston Town Supervisor Patti Southworth on Monday announced her candiacy in the state’s 49th Senate District.

The seat is currently held by Sen. Hugh Farley, R-Schenectady.

Southworth, running as a Democrat, was elected supervisor in the town of Ballston three times.

“I have demonstrated that I work for the people, regardless of political affiliation, and believe in complete transparency,” Southworth said in a news release. “I believe that the best solutions occur when you bring multiple stakeholders to the table. I want to bring solutions, not platitudes, for the residents of the 49th, which is why I have been travelling the length of the district to meet people and their businesses since the beginning of the year.”

Southworth will be on the ballot Sept. 9 in the state primary election.
