Mohawks get past Mohawk Valley, 3-2

LITTLE FALLS – In a battle for first place in the East Division, Amsterdam edged Mohawk Valley, 3-2, in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Wednesday.

Zack Brown, Thomas Hackimer, Daniel Castro and Zach Breen combined on a one-hitter for Amsterdam, which improved to 17-7 overall with its 15th win in 16 games. Brown struck out six and walked four in four innings of work, while Hackimer struck out eight and walked one in three innings.

Josh Gardiner had two hits, an RBI and a run scored for the Mohawks, while JaVon Shelby also had two hits. Thomas Kain also had two hits for Amsterdam, while John Razzino and Brendan Tracy each had a single and an RBI.

Greg Fazio had the lone hit for Mohawk Valley (15-7).

Amsterdam is scheduled to host Adirondack today at 6:35 p.m. at Shuttleworth Park.
