Fire damages Amsterdam home
AMSTERDAM – A fire Monday damaged the attic of an East Main Street home, city Fire Department officials said today.
According to Fire Department Lt. Tony Agresta, the department received a call around 2:35 a.m. Monday about a fire in the attic of 304 E. Main St.
Agresta said the fire started in the attic; he was not sure if the second floor had been damaged by the fire.
“The house was not a complete loss,” Agresta said.
The two-family home had six occupants. No injuries were reported and the American Red Cross provided emergency food and lodging to one adult and five children.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Agresta said.
