Health center partners with We Honor Veterans

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization recently added the Community Health Center of St. Mary’s Healthcare and Nathan Littauer Hospital as a partner in its We Honor Veterans program, a news release said.

“Our veterans are dedicated to serving our country. Our mission is to serve our community, and CHC is proud to form a partnership with the We Honor Veterans program to provide home care services to our heroes,” says Mildred Ferriter, CHC chief executive officer and executive director.

As a community partner, CHC will have access to the WHV resources and training that will help the organization better serve veterans. As a We Honor Veterans community partner, CHC will focus on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment in serving the post-acute healthcare needs of veterans, the release said.

According to the release, as a We Honor Veterans community partner, CHC is working to ensure that their staff members are prepared to:

1. Build professional and organizational capacity to provide quality healthcare and rehabilitation services for veterans and their families.

2. Develop and/or strengthen partnerships with hospices, VA, veteran organizations and other healthcare organizations.

3. Promote hospice and palliative care for veterans when appropriate.

4. Demonstrate the effect of organizational programs through evaluation and analysis of programs.
