Fort Klock plans celebration
ST. JOHNSVILLE – An Independence Day celebration and strawberry festival will take place from noon to 4 p.m. July 4 at Fort Klock on Route 5.
Homemade strawberry shortcake, cakes, ice cream and a scoop of strawberries will be offered, plus a beverage for a fee.
The Friends of Fort Klock also will have a sale of homemade baked goods.
At 1 p.m., Eugene Wagner will read the Declaration of Independence followed by a musket salute from the Tryon County Militia.
In the Dutch barn, there will be a display of Mohawk Valley quilts and artifacts. Local musicians will provide music.
The trade room gift shop will be open. A fee is charged for guided tours of the Klock’s farmhouse.
