David H. Shibley Jr.
David H. Shibley Jr., 52, of Lassellsville in the town of Ephratah, passed away peacefully at his family’s home in Utica on Wednesday, June 25, 2014.
He was born on September 27, 1961, in Little Falls, NY, a son of David H. Shibley Sr. and the late Winnie Shibley. He was educated in Dolgeville Central School. He was of the Methodist faith.
David was a logger by trade for his entire life. He worked for several logging companies throughout the years and lastly, as a partner with his father at Dave Shibley Logging in Dolgeville, NY.
He was a member of the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club and former member of the Sprite Club. David enjoyed all outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, socializing and his volunteer work with Beast Feast. He was a loving companion, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his beloved father, David H. Shibley Sr. of Dolgeville, NY; a longtime best friend and companion, Diane Stowell of Oppenheim; his loving children, Michelle Shibley of Utica, NY, David Shibley of Utica, NY, Brian Shibley of Salisbury, NY, Scott Stowell and his wife, Diane of Inghams Mills, NY, and Mindy Cover and her husband, Chad of Oppenheim, NY; his sister, Jody Farr and her husband, Paul of Canastota, NY; his brother, Anthony Frazier of Ilion, NY; several cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Winnie Shibley, on February 3, 2014, and his brother, Leonard Frazier, in 1980.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 3:30 p.m. also at the funeral home, with the Rev. R.W. Williams, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Salisbury Rural Cemetery.
