Truck-stop robberies under investigation

FULTONVILLE – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two robberies at the AM Best truck stop, officials said today.

According to Investigator Joseph P. Kilmartin, the first robbery occurred at 1 p.m. March 10; and the second one was at 2:20 a.m. June 15.

Kilmartin said it is believed the same suspect committed both robberies. The suspect is described as 5 foot 9 inches to 5 foot 11 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds with short blonde hair. He said the suspect displayed a knife in both incidents.

In the first incident, Kilmartin said the suspect fled the scene on foot, headed west on Riverside Drive, then south on Schlote Avenue.

The second incident involved a 2004-07 Ford Freestar, gray or tan with black door handles and black door trim arriving in the parking lot just seconds prior to the robbery and then fleeing the scene west on Riverside Drive.

The sheriff’s office said the male was wearing a grey jacket, dark pants and a purple bandanna over his face and pink gloves. He fled on foot in the first incident.

In the second incident, the man was wearing dark blue hoodie, pink or purple bandana over face, pink gloves and black and white checkered pajama bottoms.
