Johnstown students honored at ceremony

TROY?-?A total of 24 Greater Johnstown School District Students were recognized by the Capital Zone of the New York State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance with the Sandy Morley Physical Education Leadership Award.

The students were recognized in a ceremony May 5 at the Hudson Valley Community College.

More than 600 students from 37 school districts were recognized for excellence in physical education and outstanding leadership characteristics, according to a news release.

Six students from each elementary school and six from Knox Junior High were nominated by their physical education teachers to receive the award.

In addition to many parents, physical education instructors Melissa Blanchard, Cyndi Cromer, Colleen Froschauer and Robert Kraemer attended the event.

The following children were honored:

Glebe Street Elementary: Isabella Page, Alexandra Queeney, Joshua Hoyt, Noah Massey, Zachary Serpa and Jacob Stewart.

Pleasant Avenue Elementary: Chelsea Savage, Madison Blood, Julia Norris, Abraham Miller, Osvalda Dejesus Jr. and Dante Tirse.

Warren Street Elementary: Grace Osborne, Jaszmine Crouse, Mari-Ahna Manchester, Trevor Murphy, Steven Bentley and Adam Horan.

Knox Junior High School: Abigail Baker, Emily Clizbe, Tara Kilmartin, Trevor Porter, Andrew Sitterly and Christian Solby.
