Amsterdam’s Gallup, Glionna named first-team all-stars

Several Amsterdam players were among those selected for the recently announced Big 10 baseball all-star team.

Julian Gallup and Kolbie Glionna were named first-team all-stars for the Rams.

Gallup hit .327 for Amsterdam this season with three triples, a home run, doubleand 18 RBIs. On the mound, Gallup also was 3-3 with a 2.84 earned run average.

Glionna hit .386 with two home runs, four doubles and 16 RBIs for Amsterdam, which went 13-9 overall and reached the semifinals of the Section II Class A Tournament.

Jonardy Anil and Eric Robertshaw were named honorable mention for the Rams.

Anil hit .256 with three doubles and 12 RBIs, while Robertshaw had a .309 average with a double and seven RBIs.

Schenectady’s Jordan Bernacet and Christian Brothers Academy’s Justin Decker were named Big 10 co-Players of the Year.

Schenectady had pitcher Freddie Boehrer and catcher Zach Schellenger named first-team all-stars, while CBA had pitcher Jordan Mitchell, infielder Zach DeThomasis, infielder Matt Hamel, outfielder Alex Koshgarian and outfielder Chris O’Keefe named to the first team.

Also named first-team all-stars were Troy’s Michael Hughes, Michael Yamin and Vinny LeClair; Catholic Central’s Jeremy Glazer, Adam Dahl, Jack Engster and Dylan Pollock; LaSalle’s Jason Rose, Jake Bernardo and Ben Beaury; and Albany’s Jeff Gritsavage and Quinn McDonald.

Catholic Central had Nick Hansen and Bobby Martino named to the second team, while Troy’s Andrew Clements, Brandon Bush and Zack Hughes also earned second-team honors.

Also named to the second team were LaSalle’s Nick Jacques, Schenectady’s Guiseppe Carberg, Albany’s Klyne Ludewick and CBA’s Lorenzo Horvath.

CBA had Brady Fallon and Dom Herald earn honorable-mention status, while Troy’s Ryan Ruddy and Anthony Eaton also were named honorable mention.

Also earning honorable-mention status were LaSalle’s Jim Smith and Joe Germinerio; Bishop Maginn’s Damien Higgins and Evan Tully; Albany’s Jonah Levy; and Catholic Central’s Luke Whelan and Zach Fratianni.
