Religious freedom event starts today

AMSTERDAM – The U.S. bishops have designated today through July 4 as a Fortnight for Freedom. The participants are asked to pray and fast in a special way during this time for the protection of religious liberty and the increased respect for the role of faith in public life, a news release said.

An exposition of the most blessed sacrament, patriotic rosary and benediction will take place at 3 p.m. June 29 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Amsterdam.
