Rosenthal named to regulating district

MAYFIELD – Jeffrey Rosenthal of Amsterdam and Mayfield has been appointed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to a four-year term on the board of the Hudson River-Black River Regulating District.

The regulating district operates and maintains reservoirs to provide flood protection to municipalities in the Hudson River and Black River watersheds, and administers the permit system on the Great Sacandaga Lake, a news release said.

Before retiring in 2011, Rosenthal was deputy counsel to the Governor’s Office of Regulatory Reform for 19 years, serving under four governors. Before his initial appointment to GORR, he was Amsterdam City Court judge and previously served as an assistant district attorney in Montgomery and Fulton counties.

Rosenthal received a bachelor of arts degree in history from Alfred University in 1975 and a juris doctor from Vermont Law School in 1978.

He was admitted to practice law in New York and the federal courts in January 1979.

He is married to Lea Ann (Szurek) Rosenthal.
