Hiking presentation set for meeting

GLOVERSVILLE – The local Foothills Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club will hold a meeting July 9 at 7 p.m. at the Gloversville Senior Center, 53 Church St.

The public is invited to attend. There will be no June or August meetings, a news release said.

A presentation on hiking the Appalachian Trail with Greg and Mary Ann Charon, also known as “Tree Trunk” and “Manula,” is scheduled. The pair began their roughly 2,180-mile journey on the Appalachian Trail on March 31, 2012, at Amicalola Falls, Ga. They completed their trip on Mt. Katahdin, Maine, on Sept. 25, 2012. They are happy to share their trail stories and photographs, a news release said.

On July 14, the group will hike with Fred Breglia, executive director of the Landis Arboretum, at the Landis Arboretum in Esperance.
