Grant to aid efforts in city

ALBANY – The American Red Cross of Northeastern New York recently was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region’s Community Impact Fund.

The grant will support community resiliency efforts – including emergency preparedness training, multi-agency forums and disaster response capacity-building – in the city of Amsterdam throughout the next year, a news release said.

“We are extremely grateful to the Community Foundation for awarding us this grant, and we look forward to continuing our resiliency efforts in Amsterdam with these funds,” said Gary Striar, CEO for the American Red Cross Northeastern New York Region, in the release. “The Foundation does great work across our region, and we appreciate their support of this important local initiative.”
