Soldier returns to United States

Spc. James D. Hayner, the son of Jerry Hayner Jr. of Gloversville and Leslie Pollak of Johnstown, arrived back in the United States after serving a year at Camp Casey, South Korea. Hayner is the grandson of Gerald and Linda Hayner of Caroga Lake and James and Gail Bush of Florida (state).

While working as an air traffic controller, assigned to a field artillery brigade at Camp Casey, Hayner earned the overseas service ribbon for serving 12 months in a foreign theater. He also received two Army achievement medals for roles he played during training exercises and the military outstanding volunteer service medal for volunteering more than 80 hours to be a golf instructor to service members and Korean National citizens. Before coming back to the states, Hayner earned an early promotion from private first class to the rank of specialist.
