Woman charged after escape: police
GLOVERSVILLE – A woman who was being held at the city police station on a theft charge freed herself from her handcuffs and ran out of the station, said police, who later found her.
Jamie R. Hockenberry, 23, of 62 1/2 Sixth Ave., was charged by city police at 4:10 p.m. May 28 with misdemeanor counts of petit larceny, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and escape.
Police said Hockenberry was observed by personnel at Walmart, 329 S. Kingsboro Ave., trying to take $75 worth of items from the store without paying. She also was found with loose prescription pills, police said.
At the station, Hockenberry freed herself and ran out of the station, police said. They later found her, according to a news release.
She was arraigned in City Court and sent to the Fulton County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond bail.
