Man pistol-whipped, car stolen: police

AMSTERDAM – City police are searching for a pair of men involved in a carjacking Friday night.

City Police Sgt. Michael Cole said around 9:45 p.m. Friday, the victim left his apartment on Sanford Avenue and went to his car when two black men approached him. After a brief struggle, Cole said, one of the assailants pulled out a handgun and pistol-whipped the victim in the back of the head before stealing the car.

The car was found the next day on Merrill Avenue. The car was processed for evidence and returned.
