Bannertown club reports on meeting

MAYFIELD – The Bannertown 50 Plus Club met May 14 for a social hour. The devotion, “I’m not always good at Believing” was read by President Carl Edwards. “The Lord’s Prayer” followed. The Office for the Aging luncheon was served.

Edwards opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. The roll call was done by Vice President Linda LaVada.

Sherin Akey, sunshine chairwoman, sent a birthday card to Mid Edel, who has turned 100. A sympathy card was sent to Roger and Nila Edwards.

The reports of the secretary and treasurer were given.

Edwards is still checking into the area restaurants. Some suggestions were given.

The next meeting will be the picnic at the Mayfield Pump House, which is off Woodside Avenue. Participants can drive down to the picnic area. Bring a dish to pass and own table setting and drinks. Hot dogs will be furnished. The picnic starts at noon.

Cookies will be made so no other dessert is necessary. If it is raining, the picnic will be cancelled.

The Maine trip has a few seats available. Edwards mentioned that since Liz Argotsinger came to talk about the barn quilts, many were seen on the club trip.

The meeting was adjourned and prizes were won. The winners were: Lynn Johnson, the door prize, who gave it back to the treasury; Nancy McWilliams, the 50-50 and $1. Sue Wemple won the basket. An auction took place with money going back into the club.

The next meeting June 11 will be a trivia day.
