PALATINE – A town man is facing charges after he was caught stealing a pickup truck while intoxicated by a homeowner.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said Michael T. Patterson, 21, of 828 Stone Arabia Road, was charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated.

Deputies said Patterson was caught by the homeowner at 805 Brower Road stealing a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck from the front of the house. The homeowner ran after and caught Patterson, deputies said, making a citizen’s arrest. During the chase, Patterson crashed the vehicle into an ornamental bench, causing damage, deputies said.

Patterson had a revoked driving privilege from a recent driving while ability impaired conviction, deputies said.

Patterson was sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
