Tharon “Terry” L. Coy, 80, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2014, at Mountain Valley Hospice surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 1, 1933, in Ilion, New York, she was a daughter of the late Lee Rose and Pauline Davis Rose.
Mrs. Coy identified for a long time with St. John’s Episcopal Church in Whitesboro, New York. Terry had a passion for teaching and retired after 27 years of faithful service with Oneida County BOCES. She also loved old movies and her beloved dogs, Lassie, Tyra and Princess.
Survivors include her sons, Donald M. Coy (Bonnie) of Johnstown, David R. Coy II (Lisa) of Huntingdon, TN, and Kevin M. Coy of Utica; and daughters, Maureen Bullis (Peter) of Utica, Colleen Coy (Glenn) of Utica and Kathleen Dallos (Joe) of Oriskany, NY. Terry is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved aunt, Aneita D. Rose; husband, David R. Coy Sr.; and son, Jeffrey L. Coy Sr.
A visitation, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014, from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 135 Main St., Whitesboro, NY 13492. A graveside service will take place on Friday, May 30, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 70 Wood Road, in Whitesboro.
