Amsterdam second at Big 10 meet
SCHENECTADY – The Amsterdam boys track and field team finished second Wednesday at the Big 10 Championships at Schenectady High School.
La Salle won the team title with 114 points, while Amsterdam was second with 100 points. Christian Brothers Academy (96 points) was third, Albany (94) was fourth and Troy (58) was fifth.
Izaiah Brown won three events for Amsterdam.
Brown won the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.7 for Amsterdam. He also won the high jump (6-0) and long jump (21-6).
Omahri Sturdivant (44-0) won the triple jump for Amsterdam and placed third in the long jump with a leap of 20-0.
Ryan Farley was sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.5 seconds, while Antonio Mercado was sixth in the 1,600 with a time of 5:13.0.
Gabe Fernandez was fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 53.8 seconds, while Edgar Maldonado was sixth with a time of 55.0 seconds.
Isaiah Cameron-Murray placed third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.9 seconds and third in the triple jump with a leap of 38-9.
Giacamo Lanzi was second in the shot put for Amsterdam with a throw of 39-8.
Jose Perez was sixth in the high jump with a leap of 5-4 and fourth in the discus with a throw of 103-2.
In the pole vault, Austin Brock was third for the Rams with a height of 8-0.
Amsterdam was second in the 1,600 relay, fourth in the 400 relay and fifth in the 3,200 relay.
Center State Conference Championships
SAUQUOIT – The Dolgeville boys finished sixth and the girls eighth at the Center State Conference Division I Championships at Sauquoit Valley High School on Monday.
West Canada Valley won the boys team title with 133 points, while Clinton was second with 111 points. Dolgeville was sixth with 47 points.
Clinton won the girls title with 157 points, while Herkimer was second with 101 points. Dolgeville was eighth with 7 points.
In the boys meet, Devin Bullock won the 100 meters for Dolgeville with a time of 11.59 seconds. Bullock also was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 18-11 3/4.
Devin Coonradt was third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.06 for Dolgeville and eighth in the 100 meters with a time of 11.86 seconds.
Coonradt, Bullock, Ben Nastovski and Carson Dobson teamed up to win the 400 relay with a time of 46.01 seconds.
Chris Hunt was third in the 400 meters for the Blue Devils with a time of 55.76 seconds, while Ian Nagle was sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:13.25.
Ben Doolittle was fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:02.33 for Dolgeville, while Tyler Brado was sixth in the high jump with a height of 5-6.
Dolgeville was sixth in the 1,600 relay and fifth in the 3,200 relay.
In the girls meet, Joslin Null finished fifth in the high jump for Dolgeville with a height of 4-8. Sarah George was fifth in the triple jump for the Blue Devils with a leap of 30-3 1/2, while the 400 relay team placed seventh.
