Duanesburg blanks OESJ to win WAC Cup

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Tori Powers went 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead Duanesburg to an 11-0 win over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville in the WAC Cup title game Wednesday.

Lia Schettine had a double and two singles for Duanesburg (18-2 overall, 12-0 WAC), which scored six runs in the fifth inning to break the game open.

Megan Bradt had two singles for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (12-6 overall, 9-5 WAC), while Samantha LaCoppola and Gabriella DePiazza each had singles.

CANAJOHARIE – Syndi Millum was 3-for-5 with a double, triple and an RBI to lead Middleburgh to a WAC crossover win over Canajoharie.

Bailey Wood, Susie Risch and Emily Jenkins all had three hits for Middleburgh, while Cassidy Coons and Lexi Stephens each had two hits.

Jenna Brown added a triple and two RBIs for the Knights.

Brittany Pitonza and Jenna Shepard each had two hits for Canajoharie (9-7 overall).

Maya Ferguson pitched a one-hitter to earn the win in the circle for the Tartans.

Broadalbin-Perth slipped to 1-12 overall and 1-11 in Foothills Council play with the loss.

Emily Sharpe had an single, double and two RBIs for the Bulldogs, while Elyse Green had an RBI triple.

Jill Ostrander, Meghan Linehan, Teyler Nassivera and Bourdeau each had an RBI single for South Glens Falls.

ALBANY – Fonda-Fultonville scored four times in the top of the seventh inning to snap a 3-3 tie on its way to a win over Albany Academy.

The victory also halted a four-game losing streak for FFCS (3-14 overall, 2-12 Colonial).

Cassandra Egelston had two singles and an RBI for Fonda-Fultonville, while Miranda Nethaway and Allyson Putnam each had two singles.
