H.S. Softball Roundup: Queensbury cruises past Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN – Amy Zuccaro pitched a one-hitter to lead Queensbury to an 18-1 win over Johnstown in a Foothills Council softball game Tuesday at Johnstown High School.

The Spartans scored nine runs in the fifth inning on their way to the five-inning win.

Taylor Clarke and Katie Shevlin each hit a home run for Queensbury (10-4 overall, 8-3 Foothills), while Clarke, Shevlin, Alyssa Sparacia and Lindsey Ziegler all finished with two hits.

Johnstown slipped to 1-13 overall and 1-11 in Foothills Council play.

The Lady Bills are scheduled to travel to South Glens Falls today.

Abbie Casey and Demi Vanderheyden each had RBI singles as part of a six-run fifth inning for the Indians.

Ali Battease went 4 for 4 with three RBIs for Glens Falls (9-8 overall, 8-5 Foothills).

Jenny Vickery, Shawna Funk, Devon Davis and Katie Hauser each had singles for the Huskies.

Gloversville slipped to 4-11 overall and 3-9 in Foothills Council play with the loss.

The Huskies are scheduled to host Hudson Falls today at 4:30 p.m. at Gloversville Middle School.

Bourdeau finished with nine strikeouts and three walks in five innings of work.

Brooke Snyder and Jill Ostrander each went 4-for-4 for South Glens Falls (13-2 overall, 10-1 Foothills). Ostrander had two triples for the Bulldogs, while Snyder hit a triple and double. Teyler Nassivera added a pair of doubles for South Glens Falls.

Broadalbin-Perth slipped to 1-10 overall and 1-9 in Foothills Council play with the loss.
