Fort Plain event to mark recovery

FORT PLAIN – National Grid executives will celebrate the recovery of village businesses at an event Thursday.

At 2 p.m. at the Haslett Park Gazebo, corner of Willett and Main streets, members of the village business community, area politicians and National Grid executives also will mark the work of the Mohawk Valley Flood Recovery Grant Program, a news release said.

After flooding occurred in the Mohawk Valley Region last summer, National Grid implemented the $2 million grant program.

The program “was designed to provide assistance to communities and businesses that needed short-term support and complemented funding allocated to communities and businesses through federal and state/city programs, insurance or other emergency sources,” the release said.

The “rain location” for the event will be the Fort Plain Senior Center, 204 Canal St.
