Focus would be on improving programs

My name is Jean LaPorta and I am running for a seat on the Gloversville Board of Education. I have been a resident of Gloversville for nearly 50 years, and my husband, Vincent, and I have raised six children in this community, all of whom graduated from Gloversville High School. I have been a lifelong supporter of the PTA and am a recipient of the PTA Lifetime Achievement Award and the Children Services Award.

After spending 30 years in education, I have made community involvement an important part of my life by serving on the Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery Board of Education, the Gloversville Board of Education, the Friends of the Gloversville Library and the Women’s Society of the Church of the Holy Spirit.

If re-elected, I promise I will continue to work hard for you as a board member by focusing on improving all district programs, by ensuring we are meeting and exceeding district goals, and by always dealing with every issue fairly and without bias. As a district taxpayer, I also recognize the importance of being fiscally responsible in creating a budget that does not overburden our families. I want only the best for our children and for our community. That is why I am asking for your support on May 20.

If you want to contact me, you can go to my Facebook page,, or email me at

Please vote Row 1 on May 20. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Gloversville High School and the Bleecker Town Hall.
