H.S. Softball Roundup: Canajoharie tops Lady Wolves, 3-1

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Katie Towse was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead Canajoharie to a 3-1 win over Oppenheim-Ephratah in Western Athletic Conference crossover softball contest.

Lauren Balfe had a double for Canajoharie (9-5 overall, 8-4 WAC), while Shyanna Logan and Bri Slater each had singles. Slater also had two RBIs for the Lady Cougars.

Logan also earned the win in the circle, allowing four hits, striking out seven and walking one.

Leann Clark was 2-for-3 for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (11-5 overall, 8-4 WAC), while Samantha LaCoppola had a double. Megan Bradt added a single and an RBI for the Lady Wolves.

Clark took the loss in the circle, allowing five hits, striking out 11 and walking three.

MAYFIELD – Shelby Suits had a double, single and two RBIs to lead Galway to a win over Mayfield in a WAC crossover contest.

Jessi Freebern had three singles for Galway (7-7 overall, 6-6 WAC), while Sabrina Williams had two singles.

Kristina Auty had a double, triple and an RBI for Mayfield (5-10 overall, 4-8 WAC).

DUANESBURG – Alexa Lombardoni had two singles and two RBIs to lead Duanesburg to a WAC crossover win over Middleburgh.

Lia Schettine added a single and two RBIs for Duanesburg (14-2 overall, 12-0 WAC)

Emily Jenkins had an RBI single for Middleburgh (9-3 WAC).

RICHMONDVILLE – Kat Weingarten threw a no-hitter to lead Cobleskill-Richmondville to a win over Fonda-Fultonville on Thursday.

Weingarten retired the first 17 Lady Braves in order before hitting a batter. An error led to Fonda-Fultonville’s only other baserunner.

Morgan Krisowaty bunted in the game’s only run for the Bulldogs.

Fonda-Fultonville slipped to 3-11 overall and 1-10 in Colonial Council play with the loss.
