H.S. Baseball Roundup: Scotia-Glenville edges Gloversville in 10 innings

SCOTIA – Dan Zeglen finished 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs to power Scotia-Glenville to a 10-inning win over Gloversville, 3-2, on Wednesday in a Foothills Council baseball game.

Marty McCollum had a double for Scotia-Glenville (10-4 overall, 9-2 Foothills), while Peter Marola had a single.

Zak Frazier was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Gloversville (2-12 overall, 1-10 Foothills), while Justin Putnam had a single and an RBI. Brad Mulligan, Austin Luci and Seth Weeden also had singles for the Huskies.

Anthony Oathout took the loss for the Huskies, allowing four hits, striking out seven and walking six.

FORT PLAIN – Jesse Heroth earned the complete-game win to improve to 6-0 on the season, lifting Fort Plain to a Western Athletic Conference win over Canajoharie.

Heroth also had a single, a run scored and an RBI for the Hilltoppers.

Kiernan Briggs had an RBI triple for Fort Plain (11-0 overall, 10-0 WAC), while

Jim May had two singles and two RBIs. Drew Fureno, Aiden VanLoan and Eric Orologio each had singles for the Hilltoppers.

Buck Anderson had three singles and an RBI for Canajoharie (5-6 overall, 4-6 WAC), while Joe Winsman had two single. Dillan Veeder added a single and a run scored for the Cougars.

The win was the 707th career victory for Fort Plain coach Craig Phillips who is tied for the all-time New York State Public High School Athletic Association lead with Eastchester’s Dom Cecere.

Andrew Rouse had a single, two walks, three runs scored and four stolen bases for the Rams, while Eric Robertshaw had two singles.

Kacey Foster pitched a complete-game four-hitter for the Blue Devils, striking out 10 and walking four. Foster also went 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.

Reid Johnson finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for Dolgeville (7-4 overall, 4-2 CSC), while Johann Doerrer had a single and an RBI.

Danny Fox and Darin Darling added singles for the Blue Devils.
