Board approves Taco Bell plans

JOHNSTOWN -The city Planning Board on Tuesday approved plans for a new Taco Bell restaurant to be built on the site of the vacant former Burger King building on Route 30A.

Final approval of the project at City Hall came after the board conducted a public hearing, at which no one spoke.

The former Burger King building, located at 205 N. Comrie Ave., will be demolished to make way for the new 2,100-square-foot Mexican-inspired fast food restaurant. Officials with Hospitality Syracuse Inc., the restaurant’s franchisee, told city officials in April it typically takes Taco Bell about four months to build a new restaurant. He said the project is hoping for an early fall restaurant opening.
